Membership & Joining


What types of memberships are available?
MYC offers a variety of memberships:
  

    Youth Membership for ages 16–24 who are not children of current members

    Junior Membership up to age 35

    Full Membership

    Life Membership


How do I apply for membership or take a tour of the club?

Stop in during business hours or call to schedule a one-on-one tour. We'd love to show you around, answer your questions, and welcome you aboard!


Do I need to own a boat to join the Muskegon Yacht Club?
No boat? No problem! Many members join for the friendships, fun, and access to the pool, clubhouse, and social events.


Is the club open to powerboats or just sailboats?
We welcome all boating enthusiasts—both power and sail!


What are the benefits of joining a yacht club like MYC?

  • Does Muskegon Yacht Club have reciprocity with other yacht clubs?

Yes! MYC members enjoy privileges at over 900 yacht clubs worldwide.


🛥️ Facilities & Amenities


Are there slips, moorings, or dry storage available?
We offer 81 slips for member rental and dry storage. While we don’t have our own moorings, our slips are in a prime location on Muskegon Lake.


Can I add a dockbox or steps to my slip?

Yes. To insure a uniform appearance within the marina, Trionic Corp. 8000 and 8006 dock boxes and DS200 and DS300 steps are approved for use.  All dock attachments must be approved for use, prior to installation, by the Dock and Yard committee.


Are there dining or bar services available?
Yes! MYC features a full-service bar and restaurant, open year-round with indoor and patio seating.


Is the club open year-round?
Yes, we are one of the few area clubs open all year, offering four seasons of fun, community, and connection.


What is the dress code or expected etiquette?
Shirts and shoes are required inside the clubhouse. As a family-friendly club, we expect courteous behavior. Refer to the Redbook for complete guidelines.


Can I host a private event at the club?
Absolutely! Contact us to reserve your date and let us help bring your special occasion to life.


Sailing & Education


What sailing programs are offered for kids or adults?
Our MYC Sailing School offers weekly summer lessons:

  •         Youth Lessons for ages 6–18
  •         Adult Lessons on weekday evenings
            We also offer an Adventure Camp and a Junior Race Team for sailors looking to advance their skills. 

  • How do I get involved in club racing or regattas?

Come down on race night and ask to crew—it's that simple! If you're new to sailing, our sailing school is the perfect place to start. Once you're comfortable, our instructors will help you connect with race boats and crews.


What kind of events does the yacht club host?
In addition to weekly buoy races, distance races, and regattas, MYC hosts social events like themed parties, live music nights, and family barbecues. We also offer private event rentals.
